FIRST BLACK WOMAN IN SPACE

by Simone Dede Ayivi
Tickets available HERE

It’s hard to stop rebels that time-travel. This feminist-Afrofuturist play is dedicated to African and African-diasporan history as well as the current
situation of Black women and women of color and talks about struggles for liberation and empowerment. This multi-media science fiction performance postulates a post-racist future and ventures a retrospection of the issues of our long-past present with the help of sound and video inserts. The stage becomes a space set and the theatre becomes a future lab for performer and audience – a space for utopian ideas.

Simone Dede Ayivi produces texts and theatre from a Black feminist perspective. She is looking for new role models and works against the racists attributions she is confronted with in her everyday life and in the theatre. Her performances explore issues of solidarity, resistance and
community.
